Co-mingled glass, metal & plastic (Numbers 1 through 7) along with newspapers & magazines can placed together in a separate container.  Cardboard should be flattened.

CHRISTMAS TREES:

Christmas trees will be accepted for recycling in January during regular recycling center hours, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm on Saturdays. The recycling center is located behind the Town House, 11 Main Street, South Salem. The trees will be chipped by the Highway Department to be recycled as mulch.

Household paint:  oil-based, water based or latex paint may be legally and safely disposed of in `your garbage by hardening the paint by mixing the paint with kitty litter or other absorbent pellet material until no liquid remains. The lid must be off.

Motor Oil:  call Enviro Waste at 1-866-WASTE OIL.

Oil Filters:  Drain oil from the filter, may be accepted by recycling center, curbside collection, local scrap metal dealers. As last resort wrap drained filter in newspaper and dispose of the the garbage.

Vehicle Batteries:  Take vehicle batteries to retailers that sell them.

Car Donation Program- Wheels for Wishes

Wheels For Wishes is a car donation program benefiting Make-A-Wish® Hudson Valley. We are proud to offer an easy way to recycle or donate unwanted cars, trucks, motorcycles, SUVs, RVs, or even boats, by turning them into a wish for a local child.

Phones and Eyeglasses

Residents can donate eyeglasses at the Town Clerk's office.  The eyeglasses will be recycled to persons in need through the Lewisboro Lions Club.
 

Town Clerk's Office Certified Cell Phone Acceptance Center

2006 Westchester County legislation mandated all cell phones be recycled rather than disposed in the trash.  Westchester County Commissioner of Environmental Facilities has designated the Town Clerk's Office as the acceptance center for cell phones.

You may drop off the cell phones at the Town Clerk's Office Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..
