DOG LICENSES:

State and local laws require that all dogs over six months of age be licensed. Proof of rabies vaccination and spaying or neutering is also required. License fees are as follows:

Male neutered/ female spayed: $2.50 + $5.00 local fee = $7.50

Male, unneutered/female unspayed:
under 6 months $7.50 + $5.00 local fee = $12.50
6 months & over $7.50 + $5.00 local fee + $3.00 spay/neuter fee* = $15.50

* This fee is used to fund a State project for the spaying and neutering of dogs adopted from animal shelters.

Exemptions
No fee
(Guide dog, war dog, police dog, work dog, hearing dog, service dog)

Purebred dogs:

For 1 to 10 dogs, the fee is $25.00 plus $5.00 local fee plus $3.00 for each unspayed/unneutered dog over 6 months of age.

For 11-25 dogs, the fee is $50.00 plus $5.00 local fee plus $3.00 each unspayed/unneutered fee.

For 26 dogs and over, the fee is $100.00 plus $5.00 plus $3.00 each unspayed/unneutered fee.

Note: A purebred dog license is a license for the dogs only. Kennel facilities are regulated by the Town of Lewisboro Zoning Ordinance, and in some special cases a special permit for the Zoning Board of Appeals may be required.
