The Town Clerk Kathleen Cory and Deputy Town Clerk Janet Donohue serve as Registrar and Deputy Registrar of Vital Statistics. As such they are responsible for the filing of birth, death and burial certificates. Record of a birth, death or burial is kept in Lewisboro if the event actually occurred in the Town of Lewisboro. The Town Clerk and Deputy Town Clerk are also qualified to issue marriage licenses .

Birth, burial and death records are on file for the following years:

Birth records:

Births are recorded for the years 1747 to 1805, 1847 to 1849 and from 1887 to the present day.

Birth records are confidential information. A certified copy or transcript can only be issued on request of a court, of the particular individual if 18 years of age or more, or by a parent or other lawful representative. The fee for a birth certificate is $10.00. For genealogical purposes, a certificate can be issued if the record has been on file for at least 75 years, and the applicant knows the person to be deceased. The genealogical search and certificate fee is $11.00.

Death records:

Deaths are recorded for the years 1847 to 1849, and from 1883 to the present.

Death records are also confidential. A certified copy or transcript can only be issued on request of a court, upon request of a spouse, child or parents of the deceased or their lawful representative, or by special request for a documented medical, legal or epidemiological purpose. The fee for a death certificate is $10.00.

For genealogical purposes, a certificate can be issued if the record has been on file for a least 50 years. The genealogical search and certificate fee is $11.00.

Burial permits are on file starting with 1882 to the present day. In addition there is an extensive inventory of burials in each cemetery in Town.

Marriage records:

Marriage records are on file for the years 1847 to 1849, and from 1881 to the present day. For genealogical purposes, a certificate can be issued if the record has been on file for at least 50 years, and both parties are known to be deceased. Certified copies of marriage records are $10.00. The genealogical search and certificate fee is $11.00.
