Since 2016, Lewisboro residents who are interested in establishing an accessory apartment on their property may do so without applying for a special use permit from the Planning Board as they did previously. However, they must meet all the requirements set forth in the amended Town Zoning Code §220-40 (https://ecode360.com/11025319 (link is external)). In addition, they must obtain a building permit, from the Lewisboro Building Dept. (https://www.lewisborogov.com/building), whether establishing an accessory apartment in a principal dwelling or converting an existing accessory building to an accessory apartment.
