Climate change is here and is happening to us now. Rising Hudson and Long Island Sound waters are now, superstorms are now, dangerous air quality from vast warming-fed fires is now, humanitarian and security issues driven by climate chaos are now and the need to take concrete steps to achieve a rapid and just transition to an economy and way of life that preserves a livable planet is now. People are actually making choices about where to live based on climate projections - we never saw that before.
We need more hands - the immediacy and the scale of this crisis demands that we all get involved, and joining the committee is a great way to do that. With the advice and efforts of the committee, the Town has made significant advancements in renewable energy, efficiency, waste, transportation - but there is much more to be done.
